Position summary
Savills Earth is hiring an Associate Energy & Grid Consultant to help clients achieve their net zero ambitions while supporting complex development and infrastructure projects. Within Savills' expanding Energy Team, the role advises rural landowners, residential developers, and commercial and industrial organisations on grid connection strategies, energy infrastructure, and utility capacity solutions.

Grid connection and utility capacity are increasingly the gating factor for development and the energy transition. Providing strategic advice on connection opportunities, risks, and costs is what unlocks development potential and helps clients deliver on their net zero ambitions.
Key responsibilities
- Advise on grid connections by providing strategic advice on connection opportunities, programme risks, costs, and development viability across UK grid connections.
- Deliver technical work by producing feasibility assessments, technical reports, and commercially focused solutions.
- Engage networks by working with clients, energy networks, DNOs/IDNOs, and public sector stakeholders.
- Assess infrastructure by evaluating the relationship between real estate and electrical infrastructure, including procurement of grid connections for developments.
- Lead business development by growing Savills' energy service offering alongside project delivery.
Team and stakeholders
The role sits within Savills Earth's Energy Team (around 100 staff across one of the UK's largest Energy & Sustainability consultancies), reporting to Perth, Scotland, and working with clients, energy networks, DNOs/IDNOs, and public sector stakeholders.
Key details
- Reports to Perth, Scotland, with flexibility to work from another Savills office or remotely, from client offices, and on site.

Requirements
- At least five years' experience in the energy sector, specifically in grid connections and DNO/IDNO engagement.
- Experience with demand and generation connections (LV/HV/EHV) and UK grid regulation and policy.
- Strong understanding of the relationship between real estate and electrical infrastructure.
- Good negotiating, interpersonal, and client relationship-building skills.
- Strong project management and the ability to lead project work and business development.
- High standard of written English and numerical skills; willing to travel. Experience procuring ICP-led connections advantageous.
