Job Description
Position summary
Arcadis is seeking an Associate Director to lead and expand its Environmental Due Diligence services across the UK and international markets. The role combines technical leadership, transaction advisory, project management, and business development, focusing on Phase 1 Environmental Site Assessments (ESAs), environmental liability evaluations, and risk management for property, infrastructure, industrial, and corporate transactions.
Why this role matters
Environmental risks can significantly influence investment decisions, transaction costs, and long-term asset performance. Arcadis helps investors, lenders, and corporate clients identify environmental liabilities, assess regulatory exposure, and develop practical mitigation strategies. This role strengthens environmental due diligence across complex transactions while supporting post-acquisition risk reduction and improved environmental governance.
Key responsibilities
- Lead environmental due diligence by overseeing Phase 1 Environmental Site Assessments, contaminated land evaluations, regulatory reviews, and environmental liability assessments across individual assets and international portfolios.
- Advise transaction stakeholders by translating environmental findings into clear risk assessments, potential liabilities, cost implications, and mitigation recommendations.
- Manage complex assignments by coordinating multidisciplinary teams, project budgets, schedules, technical reviews, and quality assurance across multiple jurisdictions.
- Support post-transaction improvements by developing action plans for environmental remediation, compliance, ESG governance, and ongoing risk management.
- Drive business development by strengthening client relationships, preparing proposals, identifying advisory opportunities, and expanding Arcadis' transaction services.
- Provide technical leadership by reviewing and approving complex deliverables, improving assessment methodologies, and mentoring environmental consultancy teams.
Team and stakeholders
The role works within Arcadis' environmental and transaction advisory services, collaborating with Global Investment Advisory, UK Technical Due Diligence, Commission Management, sustainability specialists, and international project teams. External stakeholders include investment managers, private equity firms, lenders, insurers, developers, corporate clients, and legal advisers.
Key details
This is a UK-wide hybrid role involving site visits and coordination across domestic and international transactions. The position includes senior technical authority, client advisory, commercial development, and potential team management responsibilities.
