Job Description

Sustainability at Apraava: Apraava Energy’s investment strategies include a strong focus on sustainability, which is intrinsic to the company's vision for the future. We operate in the low-carbon energy sector and are committed to establishing Apraava Energy as one of the sustainability leaders in the Indian power sector.. All our investments will solely be in low-carbon businesses such as wind, solar, transmission, and other new business opportunities. Among the key ongoing ESG actions in this direction are; double materiality assessment and development of a long-term sustainability strategy, setting up GHG reduction targets, enhancement of supply chain sustainability, preparation of a stakeholder engagement framework, ESG evaluation and rating, integrated reporting, elimination of single use plastics, development of a long-term biodiversity, waste management and water management strategies, etc.


This position exists in order to support the organization's sustainability activities and to strengthen its overall growth plan. In the context of future business growth, it is essential that Apraava Energy creates a culture of sustainability that is fully linked with the business's evolving needs. This position will support and drive in the development of a long-term sustainability strategy that integrates sustainability into all aspects of business and organizational culture.


PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES


Accountabilities


Major Activities


  • Supporting Apraava Energy’s Environment and Sustainability Strategy and Actions
  • Review of ESIA and biodiversity-related actions and initiatives for new and operational projects in accordance with various national and international standards and guidelines such as the Equator Principle, IFC Performance Standards, World Bank Group EHS Guidelines, India Business and Biodiversity Initiative (IBBI), etc.
  • Conduct gap assessments of Integrated Reports and drive closure of identified gaps within reporting timelines
  • Manage end-to-end preparation and timely completion of Integrated Reports in coordination with cross-functional stakeholders
  • Lead assurance readiness and data validation processes for non-financial and ESG indicators
  • Manage ESG ratings and disclosures, including CDP submissions and stakeholder engagement responses
  • Coordinate preparation and submission of sustainability and ESG award applications
  • Lead Double Materiality Assessment (DMA) exercises in alignment with evolving regulatory and business requirements, on need basis
  • Manage GHG inventory and support enhancement of emissions accounting processes
  • Coordinate implementation of ESG software solutions for data management and reporting
  • Coordinate sustainability governance forums and working group committees to drive ESG initiatives across functions
  • Support climate risk assessments and financial impact quantification in line with IFRS S2 requirements, and facilitate integration of ESG risks into business decision-making processes
  • Lead strategic ESG initiatives including biodiversity roadmap and target development, sustainability certifications and re-certifications, supplier ESG assessments and engagement, and implementation of water neutrality and zero waste to landfill programmes
  • Conduct ESG and sustainability site audits and coordinate with site teams to monitor compliance, drive implementation of ESG initiatives, and support closure of observations and action plans
  • Support in the administration of environmental and sustainability-related data in accordance with internal and external regulations, such as Apraava Energy system requirements
  • Monitor and analyse ESG data and assessment results, including emerging stakeholder trends
  • Budget and project execution
  • Timely budget and resources plan and execute the responsibilities.
  • Planning and implementation of sustainability projects, which involves the preparation of scope of work, agency engagement, agency mobilization and invoice payment, and budget plan monitoring, etc.


SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE


Educational Qualifications


A relevant and recognized University degree (B.E./M.Sc./MBA) in business, finance, science, engineering, environment or sustainability-related program or studies

Professional qualifications and/or memberships in a field of science, engineering, business, environment or sustainability is an advantage


Functional Skills


  • Understanding of environmental legal requirements of the power sector
  • Understanding of Sustainability Reporting Frameworks, SBTi, IR, BRSR, SASB, IFRS, GRI standard, external assurance, materiality assessment, stakeholder involvement, environmental sustainability, sustainability megatrends, etc.
  • Proficiency in report writing and basic computer skills like MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.
  • Knowledge of environmental management systems such as ISO 14001 and ISO 14064 (GHG accounting)
  • Enthusiasm for sustainability, desire to learn and strong attention to detail
  • Working with multi-cultural, multi locational operations
  • Self-driven, passionate, ownership
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills
  • Facilitating and persuasion ability
  • Organized and efficient; ability to multi-task
  • Strong networking & collaborating skills
  • Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills and cultural sensitivity
