Volta-X 2027

Volta-X 2027 is a three-day international trade fair for smart energy systems taking place from 2 to 4 March 2027 at Messe Stuttgart in Stuttgart, Germany. Held every two years, the event brings together energy companies, utilities, grid operators, industrial businesses, municipalities, project developers, planners, technology providers, and policymakers. Its focus is on intelligent energy generation, storage, system management, and stronger integration across electricity, heating, cooling, and mobility.

Purpose and Objectives

The primary purpose of Volta-X is to support the development of secure, flexible, and sustainable energy systems by connecting technology providers with the organisations responsible for implementing them. The event is designed to accelerate cooperation around energy storage, smart grids, sector coupling, decentralised energy systems, and new business models while giving decision-makers practical examples of technologies already being deployed across industry, utilities, infrastructure, and municipalities.

Key Activities

Volta-X combines three main elements: a B2B exhibition with a dedicated start-up area, a conference programme, and professional networking formats. The exhibition covers energy storage systems, mobility energy supply, heating and cooling systems, grid stability and load balancing, smart grids, microgrids, district energy management, network planning, and related services. The Volta-Xchange conference runs alongside the trade fair and includes expert presentations, application-focused workshops, and discussions involving business, science, politics, utilities, industry, and municipal project developers.

Significance

The event is significant because it approaches the energy transition as an integrated systems challenge rather than focusing on a single technology. Volta-X 2027 will run alongside eltefa and hy-fcell as part of Energy Hub Stuttgart 2027, bringing smart energy systems together with electrical and building technologies, hydrogen, and fuel cells at the same venue. This creates opportunities for collaboration across several parts of the energy technology value chain.
