SPC Impact 2027

SPC Impact 2027, Oregon Convention Center, 375 NE Holladay Street, Portland, Oregon, United States

About this event

SPC Impact 2027 is a three-day sustainable packaging conference taking place from 13 to 15 April 2027 at the Oregon Convention Center in Portland, Oregon, United States. Organised by the Sustainable Packaging Coalition (SPC), a project of GreenBlue, the event brings together 800+ sustainable packaging professionals to examine regulation, packaging design, recovery systems, consumer behaviour and the development of more circular packaging portfolios.

Purpose and Objectives

The primary purpose of SPC Impact 2027 is to help packaging professionals respond to evolving sustainability requirements while developing more circular and effective packaging systems. With Oregon's extended producer responsibility framework providing a major focus, the event examines regulatory implementation, recycled content and source-reduction requirements, labelling, recycling infrastructure and end-market development.

Key Activities

The three-day programme combines conference sessions, research presentations, networking, packaging discussions and tours. The event provides opportunities to connect with producers, analysts, legislators, regulators and packaging professionals, while exploring research on recycling end markets and consumer understanding of recyclability. Tours are scheduled for 13 April, with conference programming continuing across the event.

You’ll explore

  • EPR implementation and changing packaging regulations
  • Recycled content and source-reduction requirements
  • Recycling collection, recovery and end markets
  • Consumer behaviour and recycling education
  • Sustainable packaging design and portfolio development
  • Research supporting greater packaging circularity

Significance

SPC Impact 2027 is significant because it takes place in Oregon, the first U.S. state with a live packaging EPR programme, giving participants a practical setting for examining how producer responsibility requirements are being implemented. The event also connects regulatory developments with packaging design, recovery infrastructure, consumer behaviour and market demand.

Expected Outcomes

Participants can expect practical insight into EPR compliance, packaging design, recycling systems, consumer behaviour and circularity. The event is intended to support knowledge exchange, partnerships, research access and better-informed packaging decisions across the value chain.
