KEY – The Energy Transition Expo 2027 is a three-day international energy transition exhibition taking place from 10 to 12 March 2027 at the Rimini Expo Centre in Rimini, Italy. Organised by Italian Exhibition Group (IEG), KEY brings together companies, utilities, investors, project developers, public authorities, technology providers, researchers, and international buyers working across renewable energy, storage, hydrogen, energy efficiency, e-mobility, grids, and sustainable cities. The 2026 edition occupied 125,000 square metres across 24 halls, with 1,000+ exhibiting brands, including 320 international companies, and 530 hosted buyers and delegations from 59 countries.

Purpose and Objectives

The primary purpose of KEY is to accelerate the energy transition by connecting technology providers, investors, policymakers, and energy users around commercially deployable solutions. The event focuses on renewable energy expansion, electrification, energy security, storage, grid flexibility, efficiency, and decarbonisation while creating opportunities for companies to enter new markets, develop partnerships, and engage directly with buyers and decision-makers.

Key Activities

KEY combines a large exhibition with conferences, technical sessions, business meetings, startup showcases, and professional networking. The event is structured around seven main sectors: Solar Expo & Conference, Wind Expo for Med, KEY Storage Expo, Hydrogen Power Expo, Energy Efficiency Expo, eMobility Expo, and Sustainable City. Its Innovation District also connects established companies with startups and scale-ups working on new energy technologies, services, and integrated solutions.

Significance

The event is significant because it serves as a major energy transition platform connecting markets across Europe, Africa, and the Mediterranean region. Its broad technology coverage allows participants to assess how renewables, storage, hydrogen, mobility, energy efficiency, and grid infrastructure need to develop together. The scale of international exhibitors, hosted buyers, research organisations, and industry associations also makes KEY an important commercial meeting point for companies active in the European energy market.

Expected Outcomes

Attendees can expect greater exposure to new technologies, suppliers, investment opportunities, and project partners across the clean energy sector. The event is intended to support commercial agreements, technology evaluation, international market expansion, research-industry collaboration, and stronger connections between businesses, governments, utilities, investors, and technical organisations working on energy transition projects.
