Course Details

FSA Credential, offered by the IFRS Foundation, is a two-part professional credential designed to help finance, sustainability, and reporting professionals integrate sustainability considerations into financial analysis and disclosure. The program is positioned around the growing adoption of IFRS Sustainability Disclosure Standards and the need for professionals to understand the connection between sustainability and financial performance. It equips learners with specialist knowledge and skills to navigate the sustainability disclosure landscape and supports stronger decision-making, communication, and professional credibility in a changing regulatory environment.

Core Content

The curriculum is divided into two levels. Level I focuses on the context for sustainability disclosure regulations, the role of standard-setters, regulators, and data providers, and the concepts underpinning the IFRS Sustainability Disclosure Standards, while also examining how material sustainability information can inform corporate strategy and investor decisions. Level II moves into application, requiring candidates to identify sustainability-related risks and opportunities, normalize sustainability data for analysis, and connect sustainability information to financial statement items and valuation models.

Key Skills

Participants will develop the ability to understand sustainability disclosure requirements, interpret material sustainability information, and connect sustainability issues to financial performance. The credential helps learners strengthen skills in identifying sustainability-related risks and opportunities, using sustainability data in comparative and industry analysis, and linking sustainability information to revenue, expenses, assets, liabilities, cost of capital, and valuation models. It is designed to support stronger analytical judgment in both disclosure and investment-related contexts.

Target Learners

This credential is designed for a broad professional audience, including corporate professionals in sustainability, operations, financial management, and reporting; investors involved in equity analysis, fixed income, research, portfolio management, and asset management; external auditors and assurance providers; consultants; and students seeking to understand how sustainability intersects with financial performance. Its cross-functional positioning makes it suitable for learners who want practical, finance-linked sustainability expertise rather than only general ESG awareness.

Learning Format

The FSA Credential is completed through two exams. The IFRS Foundation states that Level I consists of 110 multiple-choice questions, while Level II consists of 55 multiple-choice questions associated with 13 cases. Registration is handled through Pearson VUE, and the program provides options for individuals and groups, with additional support available through Approved Education Providers. Candidates become Level II Candidates after passing Level I and officially become FSA Credential Holders after passing Level II.

Additional Benefits

The credential offers strong professional value for learners seeking a recognized qualification in sustainability disclosure and analysis. The IFRS Foundation highlights benefits including expert knowledge in sustainability disclosure and analysis, enhanced confidence in decision-making, improved credibility with colleagues and stakeholders, and accelerated career growth. Because it is developed and conferred by the IFRS Foundation, it is especially relevant for professionals working in markets where sustainability disclosure requirements are becoming more formalized and globally aligned.
