Cleantech startup Karman Industries has raised an additional $7.5 million in venture funding, building on a $4 million pre-seed round from September 2024. The California-based company focuses on decarbonizing manufacturing by transitioning industrial heat production—traditionally reliant on gas boilers—to electric solutions, significantly reducing costs and emissions.

Founded in 2024 by CEO David Tearse and CTO Chiranjeev (CJ) Kalra, Karman Industries offers solutions like Thermal01, a compact and rapidly deployable electric heat pump. This innovation eliminates onsite CO2 emissions while cutting energy costs by 25-50%. Industrial heat, vital for producing goods such as chemicals, food, and textiles, has historically been a costly and emissions-intensive process.

A Game-Changer for Industrial Manufacturing

The Thermal01 heat pump represents a breakthrough in electrifying industrial thermal energy use, enabling manufacturers to lower operational costs and achieve sustainability goals. By replacing gas boilers, the technology supports businesses in reducing Scope 1 emissions and tackling rising energy expenses.

“This funding will supercharge our momentum in 2025 as we continue to scale and develop technology that will affordably reduce greenhouse gas emissions,” the company stated.

Support from Key Investors

The funding round saw participation from initial backers Riot Ventures and Space VC, along with new investors Wonder Ventures and 8090 Industries. With these investments, Karman Industries is poised to accelerate development and deployment of its decarbonization solutions, helping enterprises worldwide transition to greener manufacturing practices.
